Storm Boelo has cancelled and diverted some flights at Leeds Bradford Airport today. Check with your airline first; no extra parking fees if you are delayed.

Storm Boelo is disrupting flights in and out of Leeds Bradford Airport today, Sunday 25 October, and the airport is telling passengers to check with their airline before setting off.

In an update at 11.20am, the airport said it “is currently experiencing disruption to arriving and departing flights due to Storm Boelo” (Leeds Bradford Airport, 25 October 2026). By 1.30pm it said some departing flights had been cancelled, and some arriving flights had been cancelled or diverted to other airports (Leeds Bradford Airport, 25 October 2026). It has not said which flights are affected or how many.

The airport, about 30 miles west of York, is where many York families fly from over half-term.

“Our teams on the ground are working hard in challenging weather conditions to support customers and manage the impact of the disruption,” the airport said.

Flying out today

“Unfortunately, some departing flights have been cancelled. If you are affected, please contact your airline to discuss rebooking or refund options,” the airport said in its 1.30pm update.

“If you are due to fly later today, please check your flight status directly with your airline before travelling to the airport,” it said. Your airline, not the airport, holds the latest on whether your flight is running, delayed or moved.

Meeting someone, or flying home

Some arriving flights have been diverted to other airports. “Your airline should provide information about onward ground transportation back to LBA,” the airport said. Other arriving flights have been cancelled, and passengers on them should contact their airline for the latest information and any revised arrangements.

“If you are due to arrive at LBA within the next 24 hours, please check directly with your airline for the latest updates,” the airport said.

Parked at the airport

If your car is in an airport car park and your flight back is delayed or diverted, you do not need to do anything in advance. “No additional parking charges will apply as a result of this disruption,” the airport said. “When you return, please press the help button on the exit barrier to speak to our team.”

Passengers with other questions can email the airport’s customer care team at customercare@lba.co.uk.

It thanked customers “for their patience and understanding while our teams work through these challenging conditions” and said it would share further updates as more information becomes available. We will add them here.

What it means for you

  • Before you leave home: check your flight on your airline’s app or website, not just the airport departures board.
  • Flight cancelled: contact your airline about rebooking or a refund.
  • Diverted to another airport: your airline should tell you how you will get back to LBA.
  • Car parked at LBA: a delayed or diverted return will not cost you extra parking. You do not need to call ahead; press the help button at the exit barrier when you leave.
  • Travelling from York by train: there are no trains between York and Leeds until 1 November, with buses replacing them, so allow extra time on top of any weather delays. Our guide to the half-term rail closures has the details.
  • In York itself: the storm has not brought a flood alert to the city. Our River Ouse update has the latest river levels.
